چکیده

Among the most intensively studied integer sequences are the Fibonacci and Lucas sequences. Both are instances of second order recurrences [8], both satisfying sk−2+sk−1 = sk for all integers k, but where the fibonacci sequence (fi) begins with f0 = 0 and f1 = 1, the Lucas sequence (li) has l0 = 2 and l1 = 1. Several authors have recently been interested in the singular values of Toeplitz, circulant, and Hankel matrices that are obtained from the Fibonacci and Lucas sequences (see [1], [2], [3], [12], [13], and [14]), where the authors obtain bounds for the “spectral norms”, i.e. the largest singular value. In [1] a formula is given for the exact value of the spectral norms of the Lucas and Fibonacci Hankel matrices. In this paper, we present the exact value for the spectral norms of Toeplitz matrices involving Fibonacci and Lucas numbers. All matrices and vector spaces will be considered as ones over the complex numbers. If A is a complex matrix, we let A∗ denote the adjoint of A. The singular values of a matrix A = (aij) are defined to be the nonzero eigenvalues of |A| ≡ (A∗A) 1 2 , and they are traditionally enumerated in descending order, s1 ≥ s2 ≥ . . . ≥ sk > 0,

Toeplitz transforms of Fibonacci sequences

We introduce a matricial Toeplitz transform and prove that the Toeplitz transform of a second order recurrence sequence is another second order recurrence sequence. We investigate the injectivity of this transform and show how this distinguishes the Fibonacci sequence among other recurrence sequences. We then obtain new Fibonacci identities as an application of our transform.

An application of Fibonacci numbers into infinite Toeplitz matrices

The main purpose of this paper is to define a new regular matrix by using Fibonacci numbers and to investigate its matrix domain in the classical sequence spaces $ell _{p},ell _{infty },c$ and $c_{0}$, where $1leq p

Singular Values of k-Fibonacci and k-Lucas Hankel Matrices

An exact formula was recently obtained for the spectral norms of the Lucas and Fibonacci Hankel matrices [1], and also for the Lucas and Fibonacci Toeplitz matrices [4]. These results put finishing touches on the works initiated in [2] and [3]. On another front, bounds were found for the spectral norms of k-Fibonacci and k-Lucas Toeplitz matrices [7]. In this paper, we present the exact value f...

A new method for obtaining Fibonacci identities

For the Lucas sequence {Uk(P,Q)} we discuss the identities like the well-known Fibonacci identities. For example, the generalizations of F2k = F 2 k+1 − F 2 k−1 and F2k+1 = F 2 k+1 + F 2 k are PU2k = U 2 k+1 − QU k−1 and U2k+1 = U k+1 − QU k , respectively. We propose a new simple method for obtaining identities involving any recurrences and use it to obtain new identities involving the Fibonac...

Projecting Cultural Identity through Metadiscourse Marking; A Comparison of Persian and English Research Articles

Writing projects are socially-situated identities. The rhetorically-loaded aspects of writing, like metadiscourse marking, are more prone to carry such identities. Through analyzing metadiscourse strategies employment in Persian and English (as the lingua franca of academic discourse community) research articles, this study makes an attempt to find out whether Persian native writers take on the...
